For more than three years, my grandmother always asked me to visit Gorée Island. I knew it was a historical and legendary place, but I never really understood what she wanted to show me. Today, I am in Senegal for the YOG (Youth Olympic Games), but my visit to Gorée will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable travel experiences of my life. Above all, I finally understand what my grandmother wanted me to see. She is no longer with us today, but I thank her.
